I strive to collaborate with you to build up your strengths so you can boldly be the most authentic and confident version of yourself, flaws and all.
Just “pushing through?”
I’ve been there.
I started New River Counseling in Fort Lauderdale, FL after a life-changing failure. I had a good career as a mental health counselor and clinical leader in a treatment center but wasn’t truly happy. Something was just not right. I decided to seek out help for myself and was better for it. I built up my positive self-belief and courage, which allowed me to take a big risk in changing jobs as a new challenge. However, this ultimately did not work out and for the first time in my career, I failed.
Failure Can be Something to Celebrate!
It is easy to feel discouraged and shut down after failure. Fortunately, because of my own work, I saw the truth that it had nothing to do with abilities or skills. The reality was that I outgrew the industry. This “failure” was a life-changing moment because I still felt confident in myself and decided to work towards my true calling. I was no longer going to settle to work for those who did not empower me. I hope to forward that encouragement and support you in making those big changes you want to be truly happy.

Our Team
Josh Davis- Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I’m a relationship and trauma therapist specializing in helping individuals and couples navigate issues rooted in their upbringing and past relationships. I offer individual and couples sessions, as well as in-person weekend relationship intensives for those looking to connect deeply in a timely manner. There’s only so much that can be accomplished in a weekly one-hour session. Relationship intensives provide the time and space for you and your loved one to engage in deep, meaningful work. I use a body-centered approach called the NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM), which is designed for survivors of complex trauma and helps people strengthen their connections with themselves and others. I am also trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), the Gottman Method, and Family Systems Therapy. When I’m not in the therapy room, you’ll find me spending time in nature or with my husband and our fur baby."
Jennifer Dash- Licensed Mental Health Counselor
My passion has been helping adults work through and move forward with their trauma. Whether it's a big T (acute traumatic event) or a bunch of little t's (complex childhood trauma), I'm here to help you not just survive or exist but cope with and thrive. I am an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) certified therapist. EMDR therapy changed my life and many of my client's lives from feeling anxious, depressed, stuck and overwhelmed to feeling productive, progressive and happy. I am also certified as a Master's Level Certified Addictions Professional, National Certified Counselor, and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor. I'm an avid run/walker, swimmer and cyclist. I tend to do race-cations; I pick a place I'd love to see and then find a race to run through it.
